Service Terms

Last updated September 2026

These are the terms for booking and receiving in-home and remote tech help from easyTech Durham. We have kept them short and in everyday words. If anything here is unclear, ask us before the visit and we will explain.

Booking and cancellations

You can book by phone, email, or the form on our contact page. We confirm the date and time with you before the visit and contact you when we are on the way.

Plans change. If you need to move or cancel a visit, let us know as soon as you can, ideally the day before. There is no fee for rescheduling or cancelling with reasonable notice. If we arrive for a confirmed visit and nobody is home, or a visit is cancelled while the technician is already on the way, we may charge the Standard Visit fee. We also give you the same courtesy: if we ever have to move a visit, we tell you as early as we can.

Pricing

Our visits are flat fees, listed on our pricing page. The fee for your visit is agreed before any work starts and does not change unless you ask us to do more and agree the new price first. Travel within Durham Region is included. Payment is due at the end of the visit by cash, cheque, or Interac e-Transfer.

If a problem cannot be fixed on the visit

Most problems are sorted on the spot. Some need a part, a replacement device, or the involvement of a company we do not control, such as your internet provider or a bank. If that happens, we tell you straight, explain the options, and agree with you what happens next. If we cannot make any progress on the problem you booked us for, we discuss the fee with you before any charge applies.

Parts, software, and purchases

We do not buy anything on your behalf without checking with you first. If a fix needs a cable, a router, a printer, or a software subscription, we tell you the cost, explain why it is needed, and you decide. Anything you buy is yours and comes with the seller's or manufacturer's warranty, not ours.

Care of your devices and data

We treat your devices and information with reasonable care and skill, and we never delete anything without asking you first. Even so, computers and phones can fail without warning, and some problems are the result of damage or software faults that were there before we arrived. We cannot guarantee that lost data can be recovered, and we recommend keeping a backup, which we are glad to set up for you. We also cannot guarantee the performance of hardware, software, internet services, or online accounts run by other companies.

Our responsibility for any loss arising from a visit is limited to the fee you paid for that visit, except where the law says otherwise.

Your part

Please have the device and any passwords or account details you already know ready for the visit, and let us know about anything unusual beforehand. We may ask you to sign in to your own accounts yourself. We do not need your banking passwords and will never ask for them.

Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.
